Cattle Market Pulls Back on Monday

Fat cattle futures are trading in the red so far with 17 to 47 cent Monday givebacks. Feeder cattle are also on the slide, giving back 22 to 50 cents. The 11/25 CME Feeder Cattle Index was $136.90, down 53 cents from the previous day. A few cash trades at $111 were reported last week, with northern sales of $174 in the beef. Wholesale boxed beef prices were higher in the AM quote, with the spread reported at $21.86 cwt. Choice boxes were $244.02, up $1.17 and Select was $1.48 higher to $222.16. USDA estimated weekly FI cattle slaughter was 564,000 head including Saturday.
